The database currently contains over 1800 links, covering over 100 different languages.     A sub-section of the OzKidz site, the LOTE Cyber Centre is an index of Internet links to assist teachers and students as they teach and learn foreign languages.     This excellent, comprehensive site is an outgrowth of the Geometry Forum project and now contains information on most fields of Mathematics, relevant to Mathematics teachers and students from Pre-primary to Tertiary levels. Included are summaries of mathematics education research published on newsgroups, school networking support, problems of the week/month for different year levels, Ask Dr Math, mathematics software information, lesson plans, key issues in mathematics education and articles and book reviews.

    Teachers will find this an interesting site with applications across the curriculum. Currently, here are seven mathematical projects to complete. For each project, there is a 'big picture' for teachers to enter when planning their programs. This includes activities, background information, vocabulary, big ideas and concepts, preparation of materials, evaluation and assessment perspectives and ideas for further study. Each project will challenge students and fosters problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

    The NASA web site contains a vast amount of information and collaborative projects available for teachers and students of all ages. Much of the information is at the cutting edge of current science and technology research. Other sub-sites look at the process of aging and space flight with John Glenn, the Mir space station, space stations of the future and an invitation to students to students worldwide to participate in a Mars email project.

    IDATER is the annual International Conference on Design and Technology Educational Research and Curriculum Development. Information about the forthcoming conference is available here. The Design and Technology links lead to listserv information, Internet sites and electronic journals available for this Learning Area.

    The Inventure Place

    Part museum and part laboratory, The Inventure Place is designed to encourage curiosity and creativity. Contents include a National Inventors Hall of Fame (alphabetical list of inventors with links to biographical information); programs and activities, an inventors program (competition) and links to other invention sites on the Internet. Although American, this is a good place to begin when researching inventions and inventors.

    An American journal that appears biannually, is valuable in HTML or Acrobat PDF versions ( free) and provides electronic access to all issues. Also available as a listserv. It presents current research, case studies and discussion on using technology in the classroom and contains articles, book reviews and an editorial section. Although American, this journal provides some excellent articles about Technology in Education.

    From the Ballajura Community College web site, this section contains lesson plans and student booklets designed to support learning outcomes in the Technology and Enterprise Learning Area as it applies in Western Australia. The authors have also set our a definition of the terms design, make and appraise. The Technology and Enterprise Learning Area of this web site is still under construction, but promises more practical materials for teachers.

    Science and Technology Education in Primary Schools (STEPS)

    STEPS is a Science and Technology program designed specifically for primary schools. Find here information about the STEPS program, ideas on how to get the most out of the program, information about the program for each phase of schooling, a calendar of events (planner) and a series of recommended Internet links. While this program utilises a different approach to the Technology and Enterprise Learning Area in Western Australia; the design, make and appraise approach is similar and teachers will find the ideas and philosophy on this site relevant.
